Convenience with LEXIVA
Fewer pills
LEXIVA is often taken with another HIV medicine called ritonavir. Ritonavir increases or "boosts" the effect of LEXIVA by making it last longer in the body.
A recent medical study has shown that LEXIVA can be taken with half the dose of the ritonavir than before—100 mg (1 pill) versus 200 mg (2 pills). Half the amount of ritonavir means fewer pills to take and keep track of every day and more convenience.
Take it once-a-day
If your healthcare provider recommends it, you might be able to take LEXIVA with ritonavir just once a day. Plus, LEXIVA does not have to be taken with food. You can eat and drink whenever you like when taking LEXIVA.
You can take LEXIVA with ritonavir once a day in the following ways:
- LEXIVA (two 700 mg tablets) plus ritonavir (one 100 mg tablet)
- LEXIVA (two 700 mg tablets) plus ritonavir (two 100 mg tablets)
Once-daily LEXIVA with ritonavir is recommended only for people who have not taken protease inhibitors before. If you have taken protease inhibitors before, LEXIVA can also be taken twice a day. Ask your healthcare provider if LEXIVA is right for you.
